Election 2012

As you are probably well aware of, this year is a very important year for voting. The entire balance of the United States of America depends on your vote so make sure to make your vote count. An educated vote is the best vote. Voting for Fantasy Focus Football for both People’s Choice and Sports at podcastawards.com might be the most important thing you do all year. Here is some information to help you make an educated vote:

♥   Previous wins show the 06010 has the knowledge of what pleases listeners and gives it to them on a consistent basis.
♥   One of the hosts is close to collecting Medicare and might have ideas on reform.
♥   Nate Ravitz may feel compelled to make a donation to Weasels Without Borders from our friends at nateisaweasel.com
♥   You will be helping the economy by helping Nick to keep his job at the06010board.com
♥   Its Fantasy Football plan promotes leaving decisions in the hands of individual owners, not the federal government.
♥   You will be showing how open minded you are by casting a vote for a weasel.
♥   The 06010 has bipartisan support.
♥   The 06010 provides something for everyone.

There is always a negative to voting for something and this situation is not different.  Here are a few that should not be significant to sway your vote away from the 06010.
♣   Pod in a monkey suit is not a guarantee if we secure a win.
♣   More copycat podcasts may begin to appear.
♣   Matthew Berry might get a larger ego.
♣   Fantasy Focus Baseball might feel left out.

America faces an important decision-a decision that determines the prosperity and integrity of fantasy football.  We need to stay on the offense against the enemy. Remember, a vote for Matthew Berry is a vote to improve mankind and keep America safe. Four more years, four more years!

Matthew Berry TMR (don’t call him Matt) is not in any way endorsed by Tim Tebow, I just like this picture.

Eric Hutchinson

I found Eric Hutchinson through the Fantasy Focus podcast and have fallen in love with his music.  He is THE International Recording Superstar, how could you not like him?  This time when he came in concert, I was finally in town to go.  Well, I do not go to concerts with horrible tickets so I took to Stubhub to find something good.  Well, $211 later I got myself a nice pair of second row seats.

To my shock, the guys began talking about me on the Fantasy Focus podcast that week.  Then when Hutch was on to be interviewed, Hutch himself was talking about me…and wanted to meet me!  I had not heard the podcast yet when I got notice that Hutch was following me on Twitter and received a message from him with an invitation to meet him at his concert.  Um YES!!! Go check out the podcast for the interview.  He has a great sense of humor which helps to entertain at the concert.

Usually the meet and greets I have been to are at least 100 people, there was about 13 people for this.  When it was my turn to talk to Hutch I walked up and he said, “There she is!”  I was sitting there thinking, holy shit, Hutch knows who I am.  I am sure the gift bag I was holding gave it away…I am known for my gifts.  I bought him a bag of chocolate covered pretzels and some Surly beer which is made in MN. I wrapped the beer in gift wrap so I could sneak it in.  The 06010 making dreams come true.  Matthew Berry in his Love/Hate this week describes what happened when he met RGIII.  He describes the exact feelings I had when meeting both TMR and Hutch.  You get so flustered and afterwards are wondering why the hell you said what you did.

We talked for a couple of minutes.  He asked me about my fantasy team and we talked mostly about fantasy football.  Hutch was a really nice guy.  Totally awesome experience.  I will definitely be attending his next concert and would recommend it to anyone.  Of course once it was done I managed to snag a set list which I had Hutch sign.  If you go to a concert, make sure to stick around because Hutch is nice enough to stay at the merch booth afterwards and sign items.  This is where I chose to whisper 06010 to him.

This tour is called the Almost Solo tour where it is acoustic versions of his songs as well as a few covers.  Loved the Backstreet Boys cover that was performed.  It was a small venue with a very intimate feel.  You could yell anything and Hutch would respond.  Some guy yelled, “Fuck yeah!” at the very beginning of the concert and when the same guy yelled it later Hutch called him a one hit wonder.

Go see Hutch in concert if you can!

Check out his new video for The Basement!

True Life: I had a concussion

“Can we get some hot chocolate now?” is how my concussion was found. That is what you get for snowboarding without a helmet because you want to wear your cute new Coach winter hat.

We had been snowboarding and I took a major fall. I seemingly was fine until I kept asking if we were going to get hot chocolate when we had just gotten some.

We were told to go to the hospital. Well, we were in Wisconsin. I have always been very particular about my hospital of choice. Apparently I made it very clear to him that we would be driving all the way back to Minnesota to my hospital. At the time I was working for a neurologist who worked at this hospital.

So over an hour and thirty minutes later, we arrived at the hospital. I do not remember any of this but when we got there I am told I told the staff exactly what tests I wanted ordered and what neurologist I wanted paged. I vaguely remember when a nurse came into the room I told him that he looked really familiar. My neurologist told me after at work that they were laughing because every single time the nurse came into my room, I would tell him that he looked really familiar. That must have been so annoying but hello, my short term memory was shot to hell.

Typically we hear about concussions happening in male athletes. Well, concussions do not discriminate because you don’t have a penis. Having to get the MRI actually helped diagnose other health issues that I was having.

The next few days I do not really remember much. I was diagnosed with a concussion, a broken coccyx, and major bruises on my body from the fall. My neurologist called me to come in right away and see him. I knew this was not a good sign. I have dealt with horrid headaches my entire life and used to pass out when I was younger but the doctors could never find anything wrong. Well, it took my getting a concussion to figure out that I have a cyst in my brain.

The cyst, which is an arachnoid cyst (the kind you want if you unfortunately have one), they now believe causes pressure on my brain leading to my headaches. The cyst is the large white area in the bottom of the picture at the top. They are not electing to do any surgery at this time because they cannot guarantee that it would alleviate my headaches.

Still several years later after the concussion my short term memory still has lapses at times and my damn coccyx still hurts! Sometimes I find myself having to repeat things to myself several times so I remember them. Directions I have to have written down for me, even if it is something simple. It was a scary experience. To add to the it, my father was diagnosed with T-cell CNS lymphoma and had to have a portion of his brain removed. I am crossing my fingers and legs that my cyst does not progress into anything else.

I have only had one concussion. I cannot imagine being an athlete who has had more than one and continues to go on playing. My concussion experience was bad enough that I do not even want to know what I would be like if I got another.

So, even as nerdy as it may look, wear a helmet. It may save your life and your brain.

Gifts for women

Okay men, I feel your pain.  All women are different and hard to figure out.  Believe me, I know.  I try and make it as easy as I can for my husband by telling him what I want for presents for holidays.  He does very well.  In case you need help with deciding what to get your woman, I will give you a few suggestions here.  When in doubt, just buy me a Coach purse.  Or wait, her…

Victoria’s Secret (did I get your attention there?) comes out with special sports collections each season for teams and generally has a few cute items.  A little spendy for some of the stuff but the clothing I have purchased seems to last.  It does run a bit small so I would always order one size up.

I am a Steelers fan and love this Bling Slouchy Zip Hoodie that retails at $69.50.  As a woman I prefer a full zip over a half zip because I don’t have to mess up my hair putting it on.  Yes, these are things we think of when buying clothes.

Derek is a Cowboys fan…I know, I know.  So these are a cute pair of underwear to wear to represent his team.  When buying underwear for your woman, make sure you know what kind she wears whether it be a thong or a full cut so you get the right kind and don’t offend her.  These are either $10.50 a piece or 3 for $26 at Victoria’s Secret.

I am in major lust with these sweatpants. . The price of $55.99 I am not but these are hot. Fansedge has A LOT of sports selections for men, women, children, homes. Shipping is reasonable at $4.99 or free for orders over $50.

Being a Tebow fan, this jersey from Lady Fanatics is a must.  Buying NFL jerseys is such a pain because when the person gets traded, I need a new jersey!  So this classic from college can always be worn.  When buying your woman a jersey, size is a factor.  I am a smaller sized woman and I only buy kids sized jerseys.  They fit great and are cheaper than adult jerseys.  You might want to look at that option.  Much cuter and likely to be worn than a huge man’s jersey.

This sweater is total nerd style but I am in love with it.  If your woman can rock nerd style and be hot while doing it, this is a perfect buy from Lady Fanatics for $39.95 with numerous college teams to pick from.

OHMYTEBOWFOOTBALLISALMOSTHERE

The smell of fantasy football is in the air. This is my favorite time of year. Some people have family and children…I have fantasy football. My friends know better than to ask me to do anything while there is a football game on because they know I will be planted in front of the television with my laptop constantly checking my fantasy scores. Even my bridal shower which was the best thing ever thanks to my friend Mal was football themed during a Steelers game and had a numbers board.

Luckily for me, my husband likes sports too. That is one thing that bonds us. We don’t need to fight for the remote well, unless the Steelers play at the same time the Cowboys do. Then we have an issue…

This year I will be in 6 fantasy football leagues. Last year it was 4. I was only going to do 5 but I can’t really turn down Pod Vader when he emails me about another league. Unfortunately for me, they all aren’t on ESPN which means a lot more work.

I should put some effort into thinking of a new team name this year. Last year I went with Berry Knows Best ala Father Knows Best since Matthew is pretty much the Godfather (or Aquaman) of fantasy. Any ideas for me?
